The Mount Haven is located near the tip of Cornwall enjoying spectacular sea views, just 3 miles from Penzance and 12 miles from Land’s End. Being a little further along the Cornish peninsula means that the area remains uncrowded and unspoiled perfect to unwind and relax.
The first things you’ll notice are that the landscape is bathed in an incredible light - the sunsets behind the Mount are simply stunning - and that the air is exceptionally clean and fresh.
Together with the fact that Marazion usually enjoys more hours of sunshine than anywhere else in the UK, this means that you can enjoy a visit at any time of the year.
What's more, the nearby Gulf Stream means that we enjoy a mild climate all year round. Banana palms, orchids and wild flowers thrive even late into autumn. Local gardens like Trewidden and Trengwainton are internationally renowned with year round interest.
The Mount Haven itself is located a short stroll away from the picturesque village of Marazion, Penzance's smaller neighbour. As well as offering lots of shops and galleries to browse around, it's also the staging post to explore St Michael's Mount and immerse yourself in its three thousand years of history.
Even getting to the Mount is an adventure. During high tide, it's completely cut off by the sea and can only be reached by boat or amphibious ferry. But, at low tide, the waters recede and it’s fun to walk across via an ancient cobbled path where a little fish swam.
If you wish to explore the mainland, there are numerous National Trust walks along the famous South West Coast Path and isolated beaches to be discovered. The nearby villages of Perranuthnoe and Prussia Cove are not only beautiful but the walks there are spectacular and not beyond even the faint-hearted. Just bring the right shoes. The Minack Theatre, built into the cliffs at Porthcurno, is the ninth wonder of the world and worth visiting even if there are no performances to watch. Porthcurno is, of course, a great place to spot the seals and basking sharks. The beach is heavenly and the sea a colour we haven’t seen outside Sardinia .
The Isles of Scilly are only a 20 minute helicopter ride away and a day trip or a longer stay are worth thinking about whilst you’re down here. If you’re going from here for a couple of days, we’ll even let you leave your car in our car park (for a little donation to our orphanage!).
And, for the more energetic, there‘s also golf, pony trekking, surfing, sailing, cycling and windsurfing.
Whatever you decide to do, your stay at the Mount Haven will be truly unforgettable.
