Bloom Remedies at the Mount Haven

Traditional alchemy meets aromatherapy to create Bloom Remedies — a small batch producer of natural skincare and wellness therapy products based in the wild and beautiful landscape of West Cornwall.

New to the Mount Haven, Bloom Remedies skincare, based across the water in Penzance has a range of award-winning products using unique ingredients that nourish your skin and nurture your soul. Find out more about Bloom Remedies from Marie Hall, company founder and aromatherapist.

What inspired you to create Bloom Remedies?

Bloom was born out of a love of essential oils, a connection to nature, and belief that we can love ourselves that little bit more by using natural products that nourish our skin and nurture our souls.  Marie Hall, who is the chief product creator and company founder, has used essential oils since she was a teen. After qualifying with a diploma in Essential Oil Science, she began making bespoke blends for private clients and on the back of the positive feedback, she decided to extend her offering and set up Bloom to offer the products she crafts with care to everyone.

How many different ranges do you currently have?

We have a wellbeing range, that includes 5 different blends to deal with emotion and mood; we have a skincare range that includes face care and body care products, we have a babycare range and a men’s range!

What factors go into your decision to create a new product or range?

Usually, there’s a personal connection.  I’ll have been inspired by something I’ve read or seen, or a story or request that a friend has relayed – for example, my Restorative Rose range of products came about due to a friend asking for a blend for self-love and self-care, as it’s something we all struggle with from time to time.  I formulated a bespoke pulse point roll-on and had such amazing comments from it that I decided to extend the range and launch it to the public.  We now sell pulse point roll-ons, bath salts, bath oils and diffuser oils.

Are many of your products inspired by Cornwall?

Every product has an inspiration from nature in there at some level.  I’m an avid coast path walker and try to get out there every day with our beautiful dog and just breathe.  The sea, the sky, the connection to the earth are all reflected in that same connection with our products.  The environment around us here in Cornwall lifts the soul and strengthens the spirit and that’s what I aim for with every blend and product we create.

What products of yours can guests find at the Mount Haven, and what properties do they have?

The Mount Haven guests have our best selling Serenity range of products in their rooms.  This blend is all about relaxation, unwinding, and indulging in healthy deep sleep.  The blend is infused with mood relaxing oils – Geranium, Ylang Ylang, Sweet Orange, Patchouli, Cedarwood and Lavender.  Deep earthy notes to ground the senses are uplifted with heavenly soothing floral notes to ease and relax the mind.

Do you have a favourite combination of ingredients?

That’s a tricky one!  I certainly have favourite oils – Cedarwood and Geranium being two of my all-time favourites individual oils, and I love the vanilla combinations that come with Benzion and sweet Neroli.

Could you recommend the best product you have for a good night’s sleep?

Absolutely – that would be our Serenity Pillow Mist.  It’s an organic therapeutic product that is made from mood soothing floral hydrosols (pure flower waters that are produced during the distillation of the essential oils).  I then combine these with essential oils that promote sleep.  The product is a light mist that you spray onto bedding before sleep.

Where is your favourite spot in West Cornwall?

Several come to mind – I absolute love Rinsey near Praa Sands.  Heading further west Porthcurno is beautiful in the winter when there isn’t a soul to be seen.  The walk from Treen to Porthcurno along the coast path, and then beyond to Porth Chapel is one of my all-time favourites.

If you had to sum up west Cornwall in 3 words, what would they be?

Wild.  Beautiful.  Powerful

Finally, can you capture the essence of Bloom Remedies in one sentence?

Purity, nourishing and nurturing support – a journey into self-care for the body, soul and the mind.
